Vidal Sassoon "changing the world with a pair of scissors"

A legend sadly passed away this week - Vidal Sassoon, the man who was attributed with "changing the world with a pair of scissors". His signature geometric bob first seen in 1963 liberated women the world over - freeing them from the constraints of curlers and hairspray! Here are some of his iconic haircuts including the revolutionary 'Five-Point Cut' debuted by the then top model and now fashion director of US Vogue, Grace Coddington.

Adele

After her enormous success at this years Grammy the beautiful Adele has now added another triumph to her portfolio by gracing the cover of Vogue US in March of this year - the photos by the extremely talented Mert and Marcus are just stunning with sultry, liquid lined eyes, windblown hair and a seductive glimpse of cleavage. We just love......

....and while we are here we couldn't pass up the opportunity to take another look at her standout performance at the Brits last year.

Red

Red - a play about Abstract Expressionist Mark Rothko is currently showing at the MTC in Melbourne and gives an insight into the work, personality and inspiration behind the tortured artist. It is set in Rothko's  New York studio in 1958-9 where he is working on a group of murals for the expensive and exclusive Four Seasons restaurant. Through the interaction of Rothko and his long suffering asssitant Ken,questions are raised about Rothko's theories of art and his willingness to work on such a commercial project.

Written by the American writer John Logan, the play was first produced by The Donmar Warehouse in London in 2009 with Alfred Molina in the lead as Rothko. The play and Molina went on to win numerous awards in London and in  March 2010 moved to Broadway where it also won 2 Tonys. The Melbourne production stars Colin Friels as Mark Rothko and AndrĂ© de Vanny as Ken, his assistant who both give great and convincing performances.
