We can hardly believe how quickly this year has sped by and that we are now busy preparing for the silly season. We have some great events coming up and are having a pre-christmas sale on both the online store and Hard To Find.....and all the details are..........

Melbourne French Festival

We are very excited to be involved with the fantastic Paris to Provence - Melbourne French Festival again this year. Held in the beautiful Como House and Gardens, the festival has become a must for everyone interested in French food, culture and general joie de vivre! Our participation in this years event will take the form of a Paris style flea market stall with beautiful one off pieces of vintage inspired jewellery and French inspired homewares, candles and body products - there may even be a few bargains to be had! The Big Design Market

Our last event of the year will be the brand new, highly anticipated Big Design Market - billed as the biggest market of its kind in Australia this event will bring together the best of Australin and International design at the iconic Royal Exhibition Building on 7/8/9 December. Markit at Federation Square

m2matiz

m2matiz is a graphic art and design studio which designs and produces artwork for print based mediums including  business cards, letterheads, brochures, invitations and packaging. A passion for taking photographs led to the m2matiz product range being born - a range of gift cards, gift tags, the t.lighthaus©, the luMierebox and more.Check out their website here for the full range of their beautiful products and images.

Tightology

  

 With a deep focus on design and the environment Tightology's  legwear are made in Australia using
organic cotton, bamboo and merino wool. They produce a collection of full tights, footless tights and socks in a range of gorgeous patterns and colours which are synonymous with style and comfort. Check them out here

Sandra Bowkett

 Sandra Bowkett states that she is drawn to the sculptural and functional objects of many cultures from the refined fine bone china and porcelain of Europe to the bold lowfired utilitarian forms of India and Africa. These stunning vessels are delicate and rich in colour - to learn more about her work click here

We are very excited to be in the company of these great designers and many more, and will be showing a selection from our new collection.

We have a couple of great events coming up in May

From 3 to 5 May we will be at Malvern Town Hall taking part in the now iconic Magnolia Square boutique shopping event. We will have all our new collection on display along with some stunning one off pieces made from antique and vintage treasures.

On Sunday 27 May we will be at Federation Square at Markit  -  a biannual curated design market focusing on illustrative and decorative based design products including fashion, jewellery, homewares, stationery & illustration.Definitely not one to miss!

If in the meantime you need anything you can pop over to our new revamped Online store where we will be adding new products on a regular basis.

One month to go.....

Christmas is just round the corner now and there are lots of fantastic shopping events leading up to the big day to inspire your gift buying - here are three quite different events that Leoni & Vonk are very excited to be involved in.

First off the rank is the Melbourne French Festival held in the beautiful grounds of Como House

On Sunday we will be at Federation Square at Markit - this designer market is even bigger this year with stalls in the Foyer, Atrium and BMW Edge.

The weekend after -  in perfect time for Christmas shopping - is Melbourne's original POP UP retail event Magnolia Square at Malvern Town Hall now in it's 7th year!

If you are unable to get to any of these events our online shop will soon be full of lots of new Christmas gift ideas so keep in touch either via the blog or Facebook and/or Twitter. We will be announcing a special discount for all our loyal customers very soon!

79 days and counting ......Christmas shopping events

October already - can you believe it and the supermarkets are already beginning to fill their shelves with Christmas tat sorry goodies not to mention the yearly emergence of the all sparkling, tinsel grabbing "Christmas Shops" in the Department  Stores. Aghhhhh you may say but there is in fact only 79 days or 1907 hours or 114392 minutes (depending where you are in the world and when you are reading this of course!) until Christmas.

To help you with your Christmas shopping this year we are involved in many gorgeous shopping events which will hopefully make the whole experience much more enjoyable.

Magnolia Square

One of our favourite events where specially curated retailers pop up in St Kilda and Malvern Town Hall. Almost a Melbourne institution for style savvy shoppers Magnolia Square is a must for all those looking for something beautifully made and not always available in mainstream shops.

Melbourne French Festival

The beautiful Como House and grounds will again host Melbourne's annual French Festival.Showcasing gorgeous French and French inspired products and food, French entertainment and travel the Festival always has something to delight every member of the family. This year the fun will start on Friday 25 November and continue until Sunday 27 November

Markit Federation Square

The design market to be seen at the growing Markit at Fed Square is now in its second year and is getting better and better at every event. In the words of its founders Markit  "invites you to meet the designers, talk with them about their products and buy something beautiful" Markit is on 27 November from 10am - 5pm.

In Celebration of Colour

The weather this week in Melbourne has been glorious and has got us to thinking about celebrating colour and getting out of our Melbourne black! We are loving this fantastic Summadayze Colourfornia video - bring that colour on!

New Limited Edition Pieces Online

We have just put some gorgeous new limited edition pieces on our online store (click the picture to the left of this post to take you there). The vintage spoon pendant necklace is made from an original sterling silver bon bon spoon with a concealed heart pattern - we have put it on sterling silver chain with sterling silver and 14kt gold fill balls - quite divine and so limited we only have the one in this design.The vintage watch earrings are also one offs and so cute! Michaelangelo Di Battista

Thanks to the wonderful Yellowtrace blog we recently stumbled upon the work of this amazing photographer Michaelangelo Di Battista. Di Battista initially studied at art school in Milan and then spent an addtional 2 years studying Photography in New York. He now spends his time between London, Paris and New York producing stunning images such as these below.A clear case of where fashion meets art.

Making the most out of the mundane

As you may have noticed Leoni & Vonk is attempting to embrace social networking full on and is now happily twittering. Beauty and the Bridesmaid

The gorgeous Pippa Middleton and a recent episode of Project Runway (yes - our guilty pleasure!) got us  thinking how important the bridesmaid dress is to the whole look of a wedding. Pippa almost stole the show but that could have been intentional to take the pressure off the lovely Kate - in any case they both looked amazing!

Sadly, as some of us may have experienced, this is not always the case. The following photos, even taking into account the change in fashion taste demonstrate that the bride does not always know best - what were they thinking?
