We have a couple of great events coming up in May

From 3 to 5 May we will be at Malvern Town Hall taking part in the now iconic Magnolia Square boutique shopping event. We will have all our new collection on display along with some stunning one off pieces made from antique and vintage treasures.

On Sunday 27 May we will be at Federation Square at Markit  -  a biannual curated design market focusing on illustrative and decorative based design products including fashion, jewellery, homewares, stationery & illustration.Definitely not one to miss!

If in the meantime you need anything you can pop over to our new revamped Online store where we will be adding new products on a regular basis.

Dar Doodad Morocco

We stumbled across the images of this stunning house via the Le Ciel est BlanC Facebook page and at once fell in love with the juxtaposition of bright white walls and pops of colour and the mix and match of traditional Moroccan art with vintage 60s furniture.Situated in Essaouira in Morocco the house has been built around ancient sandstone columns of 200 years old and is on 4 storeys with a magnificant terrace with views over the city. The last we heard it was for sale - we can but dream!!

Dolce and Gabbana - Italian Beauty

Inspired by the 50's ideal of Italian beauty, Dolce and Gabbana's 2012 Spring/Summer collection is just bursting with colour and unabashed sexuality. Looking back to the style and grace of the iconic Sophia Loren the cinched waists, body contouring bodices and flowing skirts are reminiscent of the 1950s - when women were womanly and proud of it.

The runway show is beautiful and fun - and check out the glimpses of the stunning shoes and bags as well - we just love it all! What do you think?

Amazing Paper Sculptures by Peter Gentenaar

This incredible sculptures by artist Peter Gentenaar are all made out of paper. These images are from Gentenaar’s latest exhibition inside the Abbey church of Saint-Riquier in France and are formed by allowing pulp to dry and shrink in unison while attached to a pre-constructed bamboo framework. 

Gentenaar says of his work  “Because I started out as a printmaker and sculptor, it took time to lose the idea that paper was a helpful carrier for prints or a filler for molds. Gradually I found that the single sheet of paper, which had not dried yet, had all the possibilities I needed. A paper sheet is thin and strong and can be compared to the leaf on a tree or plant. Reinforced with very thin ribs of bamboo that look like the ribs of a leaf, the analogy between the sheet of paper and the plant form is emphasized even more. By beating my pulp very long, an extraordinary play of forces occurs during the drying processes of my paper sculpture.”

L'Oreal Melbourne Fashion Festival Highlights

Well LMFF is over for another year and what a great week it was - fabulous fashion along with a little controversy of course! Were the models too skinny and did it matter that the models took off their shoes rather than trip and slide along the runway? See images of "shoegate" here.
